Where to stay in
Phrom Phong (EmDistrict)

Phrom Phong is the Sukhumvit stretch around Soi 22-39 that locals call the EmDistrict, after its three Em-family malls: Emporium, EmQuartier, and EmSphere, all linked directly to BTS Phrom Phong. The area has a large Japanese community, so ramen shops, sushi counters, and Japanese supermarkets are everywhere. Benchasiri Park sits next to Emporium for a sit-down break or somewhere to bring the kids. Accommodation runs from hostels to high-end serviced apartments, most of it within an easy walk of the malls and the train.

FAQ

Is Phrom Phong good for families with kids?

Very much so. The area has three big malls side by side for an air-conditioned wander, Benchasiri Park next to Emporium for kids to run around, and serviced apartments with kitchens and kids' playrooms like Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24, or the two-floor suites at S31. Everything is within walking distance of the train, so it's easy to take kids out around the city.

What's the difference between Emporium, EmQuartier, and EmSphere?

All three are part of the same group and walkable to each other around BTS Phrom Phong. Emporium is the original mall, leaning toward luxury brands and a supermarket. EmQuartier, across the road, has more restaurants and an indoor waterfall garden. EmSphere is the newest, focused on lifestyle and food, with a concert hall on the upper floors.

Is it easy to get around Bangkok from Phrom Phong?

Yes. BTS Phrom Phong is on the Sukhumvit line, a few stops from Asok for the MRT or on to Siam and National Stadium. For Suvarnabhumi Airport, take the BTS to Asok and switch to the Airport Rail Link at Makkasan, or just grab a taxi. Most hotels here are walkable to the station, except the ones set deep inside a soi.
