Where to stay in
Khao Takiab

Khao Takiab is Hua Hin's southernmost beach, around 6 km from the town centre, marked by the rocky headland with Wat Khao Takiab on top. The sand along this stretch is noticeably wider and quieter than the central beach, and beachfront places run from budget apartments to 5-star pool villas. The appeal is falling asleep to the waves and long morning walks on the beach, while still being close to Cicada Market and the Tamarind night market at weekends, with central Hua Hin a 10–15 minute drive away. It works well for families, couples and anyone who wants a relaxed seaside setting without the bustle. The trade-off is fewer shops and places to eat nearby than in town, so if you want to walk to food every meal you may end up driving in fairly often, or renting a scooter or car to get around.

FAQ

How is Khao Takiab different from central Hua Hin?

Central Hua Hin is close to the train station, the night market, restaurants and shops you can browse all day, but the beach there is busier and narrower. Khao Takiab is about 6 km south, with a wider, quieter beach and beachfront resorts across a range of price points, though there's less to eat and fewer shops nearby. Choose the centre if you want to walk to food and drinks every meal; choose Khao Takiab for a calmer beach and a relaxed seaside base, then drive or ride into town now and then.

From Khao Takiab, is it easy to reach Cicada Market and the town?

Cicada Market and the Tamarind night market run at weekends and are in the Khao Takiab area itself — many hotels are within walking distance or a few minutes' drive. Central Hua Hin is about a 10–15 minute drive, served by the green songthaew that runs between Khao Takiab and town, plus taxis, some hotel shuttles and ride-hailing apps. If you plan to head into town or eat out often, renting a scooter or car is more convenient and cheaper over a longer stay.

Is Khao Takiab good for families with kids?

Yes. Khao Takiab beach is wide and the waves are usually gentle, so children can wander and build sandcastles easily. Many resorts here have pools, children's pools or villas with space for kids to run around, and it's close to Wat Khao Takiab with its resident monkeys and to Cicada Market with food stalls and open areas. One caveat: during the monsoon months the surf and wind can pick up, so watch for warning flags and ask the hotel before letting children swim — and it helps to pick a place with a pool as a backup.
