Short answer: Patong is Phuket’s busiest nightlife beach. For parties and shopping stay in Central Patong, by Bangla Road and the beach, within walking distance of everything; for somewhere quieter but still close choose Kalim to the north; for luxury and bay views pick a resort on the hillside above Patong.

FAQ

Where in Patong should I stay?

For nightlife and walking to the beach and Bangla Road, central Patong is most convenient — but it is noisy at night. For more quiet while staying close, choose Kalim to the north, or a hillside resort with great views but where you will want a car.

Is Patong good for families?

Patong is busy and nightlife-focused, better suited to a younger, party crowd. Families wanting a calmer beach often pick nearby Kata–Karon or Kamala, though Patong does have family resorts and water parks if you want everything in one place.

How far from the beach is too far in Patong?

In Patong, location matters more than star rating — a 4-star across from the beach often beats a 5-star 2 km up a hillside. If you book away from the sand, check whether there is a shuttle, as it is hot by day and the roads get busy.
