The picks, ranked
Safari World Bangkok
A big open-zoo on Bangkok's eastern edge where you drive (or ride the park bus) through a safari zone past lions, zebras, giraffes and rhinos up close without leaving the vehicle — a thrill for kids of every age. The children's favourite is the giraffe-feeding spot, where they lean their long necks down for a banana from your hand, and the marine-park side adds an aquarium and birds. Plan a full day; a combined two-zone ticket runs a few hundred to around a thousand baht (young children are often reduced or free), and bring hats and water as there's a lot of walking in the sun — go early to dodge the afternoon heat.
Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World
An aquarium beneath Siam Paragon right in the city centre, where a glass underwater tunnel lets you watch sharks, rays and sea turtles glide overhead, with a penguin zone and a touch pool for kids to try — good for all ages, including little ones in a stroller. It's fully air-conditioned, so it's a fine escape from rain or heat; entry is around a thousand baht a head, but booking online ahead is much cheaper than walking up, and it pairs easily with a day around Siam and Lumphini.
Children's Discovery Museum Bangkok
A hands-on play museum for young children near Chatuchak, built around touching, pressing, climbing and water play, with a dinosaur zone, dress-up role-play as doctors and cooks, and an outdoor water yard — best for toddlers through lower-primary; much older kids may find it light. Entry is very cheap (young children are often free), it mixes cool indoor halls with outdoor areas, so pack a spare set of clothes for the water zone, and go on a weekday when it's quieter than weekends.
Siam Amazing Park
A large amusement-and-water park in the Min Buri area: the fair side runs from gentle carousels to roller coasters for older kids, while the water park has a wave pool and slides for a full day out. There's something for all ages, but it's best value for primary-age kids and up who can ride the bigger attractions; an all-rides ticket runs from a few hundred to around a thousand baht, so bring swimwear and towels, and arrive at opening to get through the rides before the midday heat and afternoon queues.
Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm
A large crocodile farm with a small zoo near Bangkok, where kids can see thousands of crocodiles lined up in the ponds, with more animals to walk around in the zoo section and a tram that loops the grounds — good for children who love big animals, from kindergarten age up. Entry is in the low hundreds of baht (Thais pay less than foreigners); keep little ones back from the pond edges and hold hands, and as it's close to town it works as a half-day stop.
The Ancient City (Muang Boran)
A huge open-air park that recreates famous temples, palaces and monuments from all over Thailand in one place, where you rent bikes or a golf cart and roam at an easy pace all day — good for families with primary-age kids and up who can pedal and enjoy wide-open space to run around. It's very large and tiring on foot alone, so a golf cart helps if you have little ones; Thai admission is cheaper than the foreigner rate, and going early or late afternoon keeps the sun manageable.
Dream World (Pathum Thani)
A classic amusement park out at Khlong Sam in Rangsit, with rides across a range of intensities, a fairytale-style garden and Snow Town, an indoor snow room where kids play in real snow — good for all ages, with gentle zones for little ones and thrill rides for bigger kids. An all-rides ticket runs from a few hundred to around a thousand baht; bring a warm layer for Snow Town, and a weekday means shorter queues and more rides than a weekend.
Pathum Thani Family Attractions
A single-page guide rounding up family attractions across Pathum Thani — amusement parks, museums, farms and learning centres that fill a day out with kids — handy for planning if you're basing yourself in the province for a few days with children. Read it before you set off so you can group nearby spots into one day; many sit in the Khlong Luang–Rangsit area within an easy drive of each other, and you can pick by your child's age.
National Science Museum, Khlong Ha
The National Science Museum at Khlong Ha, its tilted-cube building a landmark, filled with hands-on, press-and-try science exhibits across several buildings covering science, nature and technology — best for primary-age kids and up who are starting to enjoy experiments. Entry is inexpensive, it's all air-conditioned so a good rainy-day pick, and it's large with lots of walking, so allow half a day to a full day and check the opening days before you go.
Muak Lek Dairy Farm
A Thai-Denmark style dairy farm at Muak Lek where kids bottle-feed baby calves, feed the goats and taste fresh milk ice cream and just-pasteurised milk — especially good for kindergarten-age children who love animals. Activities and entry cost only tens to low hundreds of baht, which is good value, and it sits right off the motorway as a natural stop on the way to Khao Yai; go in the morning when it's cooler and the cattle aren't sheltering from the heat.
Bueng Chawak (Aquarium & Zoo)
Bueng Chawak brings a freshwater aquarium, a zoo and a nature-learning centre together in one spot, with a walk-through fish tunnel, animal zones and a wide lake to stroll around — good for all ages from little ones to adults. Entry is very cheap and good value; it's spread out with a lot of walking, so bring water and hats, and it combines with Suphan Buri town or works as a stop on the way to Kanchanaburi — a weekday means smaller crowds.
