The picks, ranked
Phuket Aquarium
An indoor aquarium out at Cape Panwa, run by the marine research centre, where the highlight for kids is walking under a fish tunnel with sharks and rays gliding overhead, plus tanks of clownfish, sea turtles and colourful reef fish up close. It suits toddlers through primary age since it's a short visit that matches a small child's attention span, and Thai entry is around ฿50 for adults, ฿20 for children, free for kids under 108cm. Trick: it's a very cheap escape from heat or rain, and an easy stop before or after a boat from the Cape Panwa piers.
Andamanda Phuket
A large themed water park in Kathu in the middle of the island, about 15–20 minutes from Patong, split into five zones based on Andaman Sea legends with 25 rides — from thrill slides for older kids and teens to a shallow lagoon and a little-kids' zone they can play in safely. It fills a whole day in one place, with walk-up entry around ฿1,800 for adults, ฿1,200 for children (91–121cm) and free for kids under 90cm. Trick: entry is steep, so set aside a full day to make it worth it, book online ahead for a better rate than the gate, and keep young children in life vests with an adult right beside them.
Blue Tree Phuket
An open-air community in Cherng Talay near Bang Tao Beach and the Laguna area, bundling an indoor kids' adventure playground, a forest park, a skate park and restaurants and cafes in one place — somewhere kids can play safely while parents sit with a coffee. It suits kindergarten age and up who can climb, and walking into the grounds, forest and skate park is free, while the indoor adventure playground charges separately per person. Honest note: the old water lagoon and cliff jump are permanently closed, so come for the playground and open space rather than for swimming. Trick: check current prices and playground slots on the Blue Tree Phuket page before you go, as they change with the season.
Songkhla Aquarium
An air-conditioned indoor aquarium at the tip of Laem Son On, gathering freshwater, brackish and saltwater life in one place, where the favourite with kids is the underwater tunnel — walking beneath a big tank as sharks, rays and colourful fish glide overhead. It suits toddlers through primary age at an easy strolling pace, with Thai entry around ฿100 for adults, ฿50 for children and students, and ฿200 for foreigners. Trick: it's a good spot to duck out of the heat, and afterwards nearby Samila Beach is an easy walk on for the kids to run around and photograph the mermaid statue.
